I'm not usually interested in war stories but this children's book about some WWII Polish soldiers who adopted a Syrian Brown Bear received a lot of good reviews. The story was mostly about the relationship between the soldiers and the bear they loved so much, but there was plenty of information about military life and fighting for children who are war story fans! The book is only 142 pages but can be difficult for young readers who don't have the vocabulary for the geography or history of WWII.
