Going Bovine by Libba Bray
I wanted to read this book for a long time! With such a great title and picture of a cow holding a yard gnome on the cover, who wouldn't? The story is about 16 year old Cameron who is an average high school student who likes to smoke a little pot and play video games. When Cam gets sick with Mad Cow disease, and his body and mind start to betray him, he begins to focus on things that are really important like standing up for what you believe in, saving the world, and finding a cure. Sadly, though, while the book started off interestingly enough, it went on and on with Cameron's end of life hallucinations and I was quite relieved when it was finally over.
